A PSA from mama draggin:Unless you're some speed demon who can finish one in a few hours or a reputable company has enough money to pay you fairly DON'T DO IT.
YOU'RE (most likely) GETTING UNDERPAID AF.
Everytime I come across a good animator here who prices their animations at abysmally low/slave wages, it physically pains me inside cause I know the arduous process of completing an animation. And when I'm talking about animation, I'm not talking about the 2-3 frame blinking gif, I'm talking about ANIMATION animation, meaning frame by frame, drawing the same character 8-24 times, fluid motion (not janky looking), colored and maybe even shaded, MAYBE EVEN WITH A BACKGROUND, KEEPING TRACK OF EVERY LINE AND COLOR.
I feel like animation is an extremely undervalued skill because not only do you need to know how to draw, you also need to know:
- how things move
- composition and framing
- camera move
